Many people look for an attorney the same way they look for a plumber. They look in the yellow pages, in search of a lawyer with the flashiest and boldest advertisement. Before you place your life and your future in the hands of someone randomly plucked out of the yellow pages, ask that lawyer how many murder cases he has dismissed, how many felony Jury Trials he has been successful in and finally, how many felony and misdemeanor cases he has handled in total. If your yellow page attorney stumbles with these questions, or gives you evasive answers, you are most likely gambling with your life and your future.
Most convictions, even simple misdemeanor convictions, carry life-long consequences, including registration and probation. All convictions will stay with you for life and may have adverse employment and other societal consequences. Do not just hire someone cheap and plead guilty. Hire an attorney with experience, knowledge, brain-power, intelligence and guts to stand up to the challenge and fight for your cause.
The office of the District Attorney has competent and experienced lawyers and investigators whose sole mission it is to convict you. Do not go to court with less than a very competent lawyer.
